Why the Name “Three Bears?”

“Three Bears” is a reference to the classic fairy tale “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” The Goldilocks principle of finding just the right fit is common in many fields; it is especially applicable to the college process.

The name “Three Bears” is also a nod to the mascots of three colleges that have been a part of my life: the Polar Bears of Bowdoin College (my alma mater), the Black Bears of UMaine (where I received a Master’s degree in education), and the Golden Bears of UC Berkeley (where I read application files).
